Midas Jewellers - Product Care Guide
This guide is designed to help customers enjoy their jewellery, watches, and sunglasses for years to come.
1. JEWELLERY CARE GUIDE
1.1 Understanding Gold G Silver Jewellery
- Gold jewellery (especially more pure versions such as 18 karat) is soft and malleable by This allows jewellers to craft intricate designs but also makes gold prone to bending, denting, and deformation. Jewellery cleaning cloths or liquids can be used to polish gold jewellery and prevent tarnishing, which accelerates in contact with chemicals (creams, perfume, even humidity). Gold is originally yellow in colour, and white gold is white because it is treated with Rhodium; this is the reason white gold jewellery might need to be re-plated after a few years if it discolours.
- Silver jewellery is softer than gold and may tarnish quicker over time due to exposure to air, moisture, perfumes, and Jewellery cleaning cloths or liquids can be used to polish silver jewellery.
- Titanium jewellery is generally very versatile, does not tarnish easily and is relatively harder than most other Take into account that titanium, unlike gold and silver, cannot be resized/reshaped.
- Diamonds and gemstones are generally very hard and will age well without maintenance. The type of setting of the stone within a piece of jewellery, however, is not Over time, a gold clasp may weaken and cause a gemstone to fall out of a piece of jewellery, therefore we recommend revisions with a jeweller every 5 years.
- Pearls are delicate by nature and should be kept away especially from chemicals such as perfume, creams and We recommend not to shower or swim with pearls.
- Gold platings: some of the products from brands we carry are silver-based with a gold Most of these brands employ a very high quality gold plating (14k or above with a good amount of microns). However take intoaccount that with appropriate care, the gold plating will last much longer with fewer visible signs of wear
- Fine jewellery is meant to be worn with care—it is not suitable for rough, manual, or impact-heavy
1.2 Bangles G Bracelets (Gold G Silver)
Common Issues:
- Deformation (out-of-round shape)
- Bending or flattening
- Surface dents and scratches
Why This Happens:
- Applying pressure (gripping objects, lifting heavy items)
- Wearing bangles while sleeping, exercising, or doing household work
- Leaning on hard surfaces while wearing bangles
Care Instructions:
- Remove bangles before household chores, gym, or manual work
- Avoid wearing bangles while sleeping
- Store bangles flat or in a rigid jewellery box to maintain shape
- Do not attempt to reshape bent bangles at home—this can weaken the metal
- Be wary of longer or loose bracelets that might snap by catching on to a surface.
Important Note:
Deformation of bangles is considered normal wear and tear and is not a manufacturing defect. Gold bangles are typically hollow and therefore more prone to damage.

- Small stones loosening or falling out
- Stones detaching after impact

Care Instructions:
- Remove chains before sleeping or physical activity
- Avoid layering heavy pendants on fine chains
- Store chains individually to prevent tangling

Important Note:
Chains are delicate by nature; breakage caused by pulling or tension is considered wear and tear. Even a strong chain will always break by its weakest link, which might be the clasp.
